As a community owned organization La Montanita Co-op
partners with a variety of organizations to benefit the community in the hopes
of creating a sustainable future for us all.
We place numerous Co-op volunteers in a wide variety of community based
non-profits including: peace, social
justice and environmental organizations to help build the capacity of those
organizations.
Commitment to Education
La Montanita's commitment to the cooperative principle of
"Continuous Education" inspires us to partner with public schools in
communities surrounding each of our four Co-op locations. Co-op volunteers
support or dedicated New Mexican teachers and educators by helping in school
offices and libraries, as tutors and in school garden projects.
How our volunteer program works and the many community based
non-profit organizations we serve is fully explained on our volunteer page.

Co-op SCRIP
Successful Fundraising Program for Schools and
Non-Profits
So many non-profits, schools and other worthy groups are
strapped for money these days. To help
the hardworking people of our Co-op community continue their good work, the
Co-op is pleased to offer our CO-OP
SCRIP Program.
Our CO-OP SCRIP works just like money at all our Co-op
registers, but organizations that are participating make one dollar on every
$10.
Any 501 (c) (3) may participate. Organizations purchase the CO-OP SCRIP at 10%
less than its face value, i.e. $100 worth of CO-OP SCRIP costs an organization
$90.
The organization can then resell CO-OP SCRIP to their
members for full face value. It can then be redeemed for the full face value
worth of food at any and all Coop locations.
Organizations make one dollar on every ten, their Supporters
get to eat local and organic Co-op food and the CO-OP has made a 10% donation
to organizations that keep good going in
our community.
