Board of Directors Served as Staff
In 1976, the first year of the Co-op, the Board of Directors was the primary staff, and the initial 300 households worked as volunteers. Since that time we have grown to three stores in Albuquerque, one in Santa Fe, and one in Gallup, with over 190 full and part time employees.
La Montañita is always looking for new staff members who have experience in the natural foods retail industry or a strong desire to learn about it. If you’re the kind of person who is always thinking about better ways to serve your community, and would like to make the Co-op members and customers part of that community, please fill out an application and turn it in at one of our locations.
The Nob Hill store accepts completed applications on Sunday mornings from 9am-11am, and on Monday afternoons from 2pm-5pm. We accept the applications only at these times. Upon your arrival visit our information desk and ask for the Store Manager. You may wish to call the store ahead to verify any individual dates, just in case.
After an initial trial period, the Co-op offers its staff members the following: a living wage, regular raises, and a staff wellness program, which includes one visit a month (free of charge) to a participating wellness provider in the community. Our benefits are open to both full and part time employees and include dental and health insurance, paid vacation and sick time (based on hours worked) and participation in our 401(k) retirement plan.
