democracy In Action

Democratic member control is a core principle of cooperatives, and each year, our members have the opportunity to shape the future of our co-op by electing representatives to the Board of Directors. With nine total seats and term lengths ranging from one to three years, there are typically between two and four seats up for election each cycle.

In addition to board elections, members may also vote on proposed amendments to our Bylaws, the governing document that guides our co-op. The primary member on each account is entitled to cast one ballot between November 1–14, ensuring every voice has a role in shaping our shared future.

Meet Your 2025 Board Winners

Your Co-op, Your vote, Your Voice!

Thank you to all members who participated in this year’s Board of Directors election. Your voice and engagement are the roots of our cooperative democracy, and your continued involvement keeps La Montañita grounded, thriving, and true to its mission.

The 2025 election officially closed Friday, Nov. 14, and results were certified by Simply Voting, our secure digital election platform. After eligible mail-in ballots were added to the count, the final vote totals were verified and accepted by the Board of Directors.

Please join us in congratulating the three members elected to serve on the board! Their three-year terms will begin in January 2026, and we’re grateful for the passion and perspective they bring to shaping the future of our co-op.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to all candidates who stepped forward to run this year. It was inspiring to have such a strong slate of member-leaders ready to serve. We hope to see your names again next year, and encourage all interested members to explore the Candidate Information Packet as a great first step toward board service.

Your dedication to cooperative values, community well-being, and a just local food system is what makes La Montañita more than a grocery store — it’s a movement.
